If you’ve seen my posts about my experience with Teach Them Diligently, you certainly understand my endorsement of their events. I realize that many of you who read my blog are not homeschoolers (and I don’t expect that you are, or that you are even considering it) and you may be thinking that a homeschool event would not be a place for you.
You couldn’t be more wrong. From what I’ve seen of the TTD purpose, I can honestly say that these events have a primary focus of discipling families.
The passage that TTD takes their mission verse from:
These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up.8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand and they shall be as frontals on your forehead. 9 You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. -Deuteronomy 6:6-9
Kim, shares a great explanation of what the Marketplace events are here, on the Teach Them Diligently blog.
I really want to share with you all that this mini-convention is a really great event for any Christian parent. The speakers that TTD has lined up this summer for the Marketplace events are all well recognized Christian apologists, parenting authorities, and excellent encouragers, in addition to being homeschooling advocates.
I’m looking forward to attending the Marketplace in Philadelphia next weekend. With a line up of Ken Ham, Hal and Melanie Young, Carol Barnier, and Toni Anderson – I’m very relieved that because of the way the event is set up I will have the opportunity to hear each session, no choosing between favorites!! Plus I’m looking forward to picking up the last few needed school supplies in the curriculum superstore. Even if you aren’t looking for curriculum, you may just find some great resources for your family to bridge summer learning. There are TTD team-members waiting to meet you and help you find what you need to grow as a family for Christ.
Regardless of where your children receive their academic instruction, as a parent YOU are their primary educator. What are you going to do with that role?
