After being stuck inside most of the winter, we were all looking forward to summer for a chance to be outside. The past few years we seem to have gone straight from winter to summer here in Maryland, but this year we actually had a nice spring. We’ve also had a lot of rain.
What do you do with a home full of restless children when it is raining outside?
They love playing in the rain.
The children look at all the worms that come up in the rain. They watch the way the rain finds it’s way down the spouts and streams down the driveway.
This summer we’ve had mostly thunderstorms, not just rain showers. We don’t let the kids play in lightening and thunder!
The days we’ve had bad storms have mostly become movie days.
We’ll all lounge in the living room. Sometimes the little ones spread blankets or bring pillows in, we’ll pop some corn and just enjoy some down time.
There are also lots of things to do as a family away from home on rainy days.
Did you register for Kids Bowl Free this summer? Does your local movie theater run summer film specials? One of our local roller rinks has Wacky Wednesday deals for free admission when you donate an item that they’re collecting.
The rain doesn’t have to get you down, it’s an opportunity to have some creative fun.

You have some great ideas here!

When my children were young the Internet wasn’t a place to meet other moms and get ideas for parenting. I had Focus on the Family and my friends at church. While these are terrific resources, what you are doing with a blog hop like this is so valuable. Thanks.

Such great ideas – and it’s so fun to just have an inside day every now and then. But, it’s much more fun to watch them splash and play 🙂 At least then we are able to get a *little* energy out! LOL!!
