Well, it’s Wednesday again and we’ve spent the day loafing around. Catching up on the laundry and such. Playing phone tag prepping for the MOPS picnic on Saturday. Lot’s of fun stuff. I spent two nights in a row scrapbooking and stamping. Can you say fun? It had been a long time since I’ve met up with the scrapping gals in Mt. Airy, so it was really nice to catch up with them for the evening. I really will miss the group once I move (whenever that might be). Last night I was able to go to Jan’s and help out a bit making some paper pins. Always fun to go play at her place!! She is such a wonderful woman to bounce ideas and ideals off of.
Oh, so remember I was telling you I was going to try out the MOMS club meeting? Well, I tried it… It is soooooo not like MOPS at all. I really tried not to be a MOPS snob, I guess I just couldn’t help it. At our MOPS meetings it is a time for the women to get together and share in the trials and triumphs of mothering young children. We have two hours that our children are cared for by (for the most part) older women in another area of the church in a pre-school like setting and each age group has their own curriculum, and we can just be women again. We can laugh, we can cry, we can share ideas, we can complain, we can encourage, and we can seek advice, without the chatter of the kids, for just two hours, but they are wonderful. Now fast forward to the MOMS club meeting on Tuesday… Now I will give them to this, I was over 20 minutes late, so I don’t know what the beginning of the meeting was like. But I walked into CHAOS. Moms standing around chatting, kids running all over, a craft table that was just kind of there. I did not feel welcome. I felt like I crashed their party. Only the woman at the registration desk, and two other women I knew from other activities greeted me. Oh and the woman that gave us tape for our paper-plate tambourines. So when I left about 20 minutes after entering I didn’t say good-bye to anyone and no one seemed to notice. So will I go back? Not sure. It definitely won’t be for the excitement of the monthly meeting. But, they do have A LOT of monthly activities that I couldn’t even begin to plan without being part of a group. So we’ll see…
In other family news, we’re getting ready to welcome a new family member. NOOOOOO I am NOT pregnant. This one is going to be Vince’s baby… No labor for me with this one!
Yup, he’s getting a bike. It’s a 1969 Honda. He’s excited and I am so happy for him. It’s exactly the type of project he’s been looking for. It has been many years since it has been run, but the body is in EXCELLENT condition. So it will be a lot of mechanical tinkering to get it up and running. I’m just happy that he’ll have a project he really likes to work on. Plus, since it’s not yet running, I’ve got time to build up some nerve to ride with him…someday.
Well, that’s what’s going on here. Talk more soon.
