Miranda’s birthday is only a few weeks away. I want to mark the date with something meaningful. In March when I held the fundraiser for ACD research on what would have been Miranda’s 6-month birthday, I also began to think of what I could do for her first birthday to honor her legacy and considered the possibility of sponsoring a child in need.
Even though she isn’t here, we miss her every day. Her birthday and her life are still worth celebrating.
We were blessed by our days with her, and our lives have been transformed by her absence.
So, what will I do to honor her legacy?
For a while now I have been pulled to the Compassion website. Last fall I found their Christian homeschool resources. While I was there I went and looked through the pages of children awaiting sponsors and had my heart break for their need. The cost to sponsor a child is minimal, less than a cup of coffee a day.
What does this have to do with Miranda’s birthday and legacy?
I have been praying for the Lord to provide and allow us to commit to sponsoring a child, I searched to see how many children are waiting whose birthday is September 29th. There are currently five children waiting that share my daughter’s birth date. There are also ten children waiting whose birth date is the October 27th, the day we said goodbye to Miranda. I am asking God to show me which child’s life He would have us invest in.
I am asking you to visit Compassion and pray for the children whose faces you’ll see and stories you can read. Consider becoming a sponsor.
Please pray and ask God if He is leading your family to sponsor a child. Consider making a one-time gift if you cannot commit to sponsorship.
It would be a blessing to check Miranda’s dates over the next month and a half and find that the 15 children who share her dates have found their sponsors. Are you one of them?
I don’t have anything to giveaway this time, my heart just wants to see the physical needs of these children met through sponsorship. I pray their hearts are touched by the gifts of grace and mercy that Christ provides. I am thankful for the ministry of Compassion whose goal is to not only meet physical needs but to effect spiritual change for families.
Will you consider helping us celebrate Miranda’s legacy in this way?
Please share this post and pray that hearts would be open for those in need.
