Today Vince and I celebrated FIVE years of marriage. It’s hard to believe because it happened so fast. It seems like we just barely blinked and the five years have slipped by. I’m amazed at how much we’ve changed and grown in this time and I am even more excited for what is ahead of us. We still have plenty to strive for.
Wondering how we celebrated? Well, the day started out normally, nothing much special about it. Vince let me know I needed to be ready to go out no later than 5PM and he wanted me to wear the dress I wore to the retirement. Um, okay. I of course had NO idea what he had planned for the night. As it got closer to 5 he let me know the kids needed to be ready to go too, packed with pajamas and clothes for tomorrow. Hmmmm, what is this man planning?!?! I obliged without question. I was all set to go around 4:30 (feel free to be impressed that I beat the time-frame). We took the kids to my friend Beth’s house, her and her husband had offered to keep the kids overnight! Yippee!! Our kids love playing with their’s (4 boys) so they were equally thrilled and didn’t even ask why they weren’t coming with us.
We headed out for some dinner. Everything in Baltimore near our destination (which I still didn’t know) was booked so we settled into an old favorite, Outback. Yummy! Of course I couldn’t save room for dessert, I was practically full after the salad. After dinner we hit the road to get into B’more. I still had NO idea where we were going. We were way to dressed up for a ball game or the movies or even for a dance club… We went to the theater! Vince had surprised me with tickets to see Mamma Mia! Holy cow, was I ever surprised. I never would have guessed! The Hippodrome theater was beautiful and the show was incredible (you all would have had a blast). We haven’t seen a musical since Miss Saigon the first Christmas we were together so it was such an excellent way to celebrate. Then we headed home to a quiet house with no worries about anybody needing attention in the middle of the night. What an awesome way to celebrate US!
