So, here’s the update…
By Tuesday evening we had the contractor and structural adjuster out for their inspections. They seem to be in agreement that the entire basement will be replaced (yeah). Know we’ll just see what the insurance actually decides. Of course, we also have to see how long this will all take, so much for selling this house before the fall. In the meantime, Servpro (the water mitigation company) returned and removed all the carpeting and cut back the paneling and insulation about a foot and a half. They have these high-powered dehumidifiers and blowers working down there to dry things out. Makes me want to cry when I think about what our next electric bill will look like. Thankfully that they did helped the house stop stinking like a moldy wet dog and now it just smells like an old basement. Still not that great, but at least it’s not dangerous.
Next step is to go through everything that was touched by the water and determine if it is salvageable or needs to be replaced, and then assign a value to it. I am not looking forward to that! I opened up my portfolio and saw mold. Sad on so many levels. Luckily there weren’t many finished projects in there, mostly a ton of handmade papers and large watercolor sheets. One of my newsprint sketch pads from a portrait class I took was in there though and it is demolished, that is not replaceable.
On Tuesday my friend Beth took the boys for the day so I could get my craft room packed. It was good to get them out as they were going a little crazy in here. It was too hot to play outside and since the playroom was downstairs there is nowhere for them to go now. Amazingly I was able to get almost all of my stuff packed up, Vince just had to move out the boxes and bring out all the scrapbooks. So many boxes. Luckily my scrapbooks and most of my stamping and scrapbooking supplies were safe since they were up on shelves and such. But the room is unusable from now until they do what they need too. **insert pouty face**
We’ve set up the computer in the living room on some snack tables and it’s working well for now. At least were still all connected. Francesca even offered to keep the blog updated for me. Evan likes that he can hop onto the internet after watching some of his shows. Vince and I had to give up our VBS responsibilities. With all that was going on here we just couldn’t even think about getting done what we needed to for next week. Instead we will just be helping out again. Vince has to be back up in NJ on Monday and Friday, fun.
Well, that’s about it. Oh and on a side note the virtual tour of our home can be found here. So if you’d like to see what the house used to look like, have at it.

You have a beautiful home, even if there is a small set back with the water issue. I hope that the insurance steps up and does what is right!
